Mustangs win Calvine Soccer Cup

Monterey Trail High School's girls soccer team, which won the inaugural Calvine Cup Thursday. After dominating pool play the previous three days, the Mustangs and West Campus advanced to the championship game. The Mustangs struck immediately, with Hope Northrup-Martin finding Amanda Do off the opening kickoff possession.   Do streaked past the Warrior defenders and slotted a bullet shot into the back of the net just 15 seconds into the match.  That score managed to hold up the rest of the way. 

Third place went to Bradshaw Christian who defeated Sheldon 3-1 on penalty kicks after ending regulation play tied at one.

Do was the tournament MVP. Making the all-Calvine Cup team were Northrup-Martin and Mazilyn Malone of Monterey Trail, Amelia Fung and Abbie Harris of West Campus, Kacie Saunders and Jenna Kunce of Bradshaw Christian, Rachel Metz and Eva Coria of Sheldon and Brianna Justo of Burbank.
