The Pleasant Grove Eagles shutout the Laguna Creek Cardinals to start the week off as they came off of a successful series against Cosumnes Oaks and improved their record to 17-4 overall.

Hayden Hall led the Eagles by going 3 for 4 with three RBI and a run,Tyson Pereira went 2 for 3 with three RBI and a run and Bobby Blandford also had a big day for the Eagles, going 1 for 1 with a home run, four RBI and three runs.

Mason Ali earned the complete game win, pitching five scoreless innings and limiting the Cardinals to three hits and two walks while striking out five batters for his fourth win this season.

For the Cardinals’ offense, Ryan Goffinet went 1 for 2, Dominic Agrella went 1 for 2 and Matthew Walkup went 1 for 2. Walkup picked up the loss after pitching three innings, giving up four earned runs on four hits and four walks. Walkup struck out one.

Having faced Placer Thursday in their second non-league game of the week, the Eagles will return to Delta League action as they take on Franklin in a three-game series that starts May 18.

The Cardinals, who started the week undefeated in the Metro Conference with a 6-0 record, will take on McClatchy today at home at 4 p.m.
