Matthew Phillip Goodwin (Matt)

Matthew Phillip Goodwin (Matt) passed away suddenly on October 12, 2018 in Chicago, Illinois at age 27. He was a   lifelong resident of Rancho Murieta until leaving home to attend college. Matt was a 2009 graduate of Pleasant Grove High School. After attending community  college, Matt transferred to the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) graduating in 2016 with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Management Information Systems. During his time at Ole Miss, Matt won the  Association of Information Technology Professional  National Award for Mobile Application Development.  Matt was a valued member of E*Trade's Mobile Application Development team for Options Trading.  Growing up Matt was active in Soccer and Boy Scouts.

Matt is sorely missed by his parents, Bill and Anne Goodwin of Rancho Murieta. His sisters Stephanie Goodwin of Rancho Murieta and Michelle Goodwin of Atlanta Georgia and numerous aunts, uncles and  cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents, his Aunt Joni Weidoff, Uncle Mike Goodwin and Uncle Lenny Yusko. Matt is also survived by his brothers from another mother Steven Voss and Cory Iverson and his fur babies, Sammy, Charlie and Walter.

We lost Matt to suicide. We will never understand why life got so hard for him, we thought he was living his dream. Suicide is a growing epidemic in the U. S. that must be stopped. In lieu of flowers please consider   donating to Friends for Survival, JJ's Hello Foundation or a suicide prevention, suicide survivors or mental health organization of your choice.

A memorial mass is being held August 17th at 10:00am at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, Rancho Murieta, CA with a luncheon to follow in the church hall.
