Lucille Martin Rogers

On February 1, 2020, Lucille Martin Rogers passed away peacefully surrounded by family, at home near Sloughhouse, California at the age of 101.

    

Lucille, the youngest of six children born to Albert Carey Martin and Carolyn Borchard, was born July 25, 1918. Seewee, as she was affectionately known, was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings; Evelyn Mary Purcell, Margaret Mary Daily, Albert Carey Martin, Carolyn Elizabeth Novak, John Edward Martin, her son Carey Martin Shaw and husband Carlton Rogers.

Seewee grew up in Los Angeles. She attended Los Angeles High School and graduated from USC in 1939 with a degree in fine arts. While vacationing at the Yosemite Mountain Ranch she met, and later married, Archie Shaw. They ranched and raised four children in Raymond California. Lucille eventually returned to Los Angeles and worked in the education field obtaining her Masters Degree in Educational Therapy. She spent her professional life helping children with learning difficulties. Upon retirement she devoted her time to painting, riding and playing the piano. In the early 1980's she purchased horse property in Northern California to be close to family. By chance she later reunited with her college beau Carlton Rogers and they were married. She moved to San Marino where they enjoyed entertaining and traveling the world. In later years Lucille returned to Northern California living in Rancho Murieta Village. Lucille's last decade was at home with Anne and Mike near Sloughhouse.

She lived life with faith, grace, patience and love and will be dearly missed by her    children; Archibald Shaw (Buddy), Anne (Mike) Tudesko and  Barbara (Ali) Jameson, her grandchildren; Tracy (Robert) Gurnea, Tiffany (Robert) Berg, Todd (Rachelle) Shaw, Nadine (Eric) Andresen, Mark (Tara) Tudesko, Amanda (Charles) Battle, Erin Tudesko, and her great grandchildren; Taylor Gurnea, Tanner Gurnea, Tristan Gurnea, Thomas Berg, Trenton Berg, Ava Shaw, Jacob Shaw, Caleb Battle, Adeline Eliza Battle, Everett Battle and Tyler Andresen.

Services will be held Thursday February 13, 2020 at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 14673 Cantova Way, Rancho Murieta CA 95683. 10 AM Viewing, 11 AM Mass and reception immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Lucille can be made to Dignity Health Mercy Hospice, Sacramento CA or Saint Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Rancho Murieta CA.
