Joseph Waldo McGinley

Joseph Waldo McGinley died peacefully, with his wife at his side, at the age of 79 on February 1, 2021.  

Joe was born on June 19, 1941 in Huntington Park, CA and graduated from Mission High School in 1959. He earned a B.S. in Business Administration and was a member of Alpha Kappa Psi at the University of Portland, Oregon, an M.S. in Business at UCLA, and then in 1972 earned his CPA license.  He spent four years in Minot, ND serving his country as a lieutenant in the USAF, where he met the love of his life, Maureen Skenyon. He worked for Price Waterhouse before moving his family in 1972 to Elk Grove, CA where he lived the rest of his life.  Joe opened his accounting practice in 1978 in Elk Grove and was active in our community as a local businessman, until he retired in 2014.  

Joe served the community as an Rotarian and was named a Paul Harris Fellow.  He belonged to St. Joseph's Parish and was member at Center Court South, where for years he met his friends every morning to play racquetball before work. Joe loved his many friends and neighbors and could always be counted on to make those around him laugh.

Joe will be dearly missed by his wife of 53 years, Maureen, and his four daughters:  Julia (Charles) Butz, Erin (Ray) Brisco, Kathleen (Ron) Grommet, and Patricia (John) Thomas. He is also survived by four grandchildren:  Dana, Colleen, Liam and Sean and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Grace McGinley, brother Thomas and nephews John and Michael McGinley.
