Johanna H. de Geest-Wieland

Johanna H. de Geest-Wieland, 80, died on Nov. 22, 2020. She was born in Holland on Oct. 18, 1940.

Johanna's favorite sport was swimming in school and, later in her teens, she became a nanny. This gave her the opportunity to travel throughout Europe where she became fluent in many languages.

In 1962, she met Ronald A. Wieland in Germany, who was in the U.S. Army. They married, had a daughter Caroline, and then moved to Kettie, Calif. They then had a son Gary A. Wieland.

In 1971, Johanna moved to Wilton with her daughter and son. She sold milk and eggs to the neighbors and became the Wilton Avon Lady for many years.

She had a wonderful companion of 20+ years in Raymond Harris of Wilton. He was a saint and a blessing to her and her family. Though they traveled the world in “planes, trains and automobiles”, they added another one to the list, a “clipper ship”. The two of them were a pair, and they truly cared for each other very much.

Johanna is survived by her sister, brother, and many nieces and nephews, of Holland; daughter Caroline Wieland-Fudge and son-in-law Mike; granddaughters Kayla (James) Fudge-Farmer and Codi (Gary) Fudge-Harmon; son Gary A. Wieland and great grandchildren Skyla, Axel and Emily; and the friends who became her family. She will truly be missed.
