Hope Fern Sliger

Hope Fern Sliger, 96, died in Elk Grove on February 2, 2019. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Ira, in October 1995. Hope is survived by daughters Shirley Russell (Gene) of Orland, Ca. and Florence Burdick of Elk Grove, Ca, 10 Grandchildren, 25 Great Grandchildren and 16 Great Great Grandchildren.

Born and raised in Butte County, Fern graduated from Durham High School 1940. She was a housewife, piano teacher, Church pianist and organist and secretary for various lawyers, Engineers and Santa Cruz County Public Works. While living in Elk Grove, Fern was a South Kaiser Hospice Volunteer for 25 years.

Ira and Fern lived in Los Banos, Chico, Red Bluff, Redding, Medford, Santa Cruz, Sacramento and Elk Grove. Fern was an Elk Grove resident for 33 years.  She enjoyed living in Elk Grove and attending many of the community functions. She loved God, her church family, friends, 2 daughters, Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren.  She was considered a loving prayer warrior for all that knew her and she will be greatly missed.

Services will be at East Lawn Elk Grove Memorial Park in Elk Grove, 9189 E. Stockton Blvd, on March 2, 2019 at 2:00 PM. Donations may be made to Hospice or a charity of your choice.
