GLIPA, Spencer Consilva

Born on September 26, 1948, passed away on July 13, 2019 at the age of 70. Spencer was born to Stephen and Margarita Glipa (Consilva) of Ewa Beach, Hawaii with 10 siblings.

Married to Anne Theresa Glipa (Lojko) of Salem, Massachusetts on August 14, 1971. He was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather (PAPA), brother, and friend.

He is survived by both parents, 5 children, and 11 grandchildren: Spencer II married to Erica (Daub), daughters Paige and Mia; Francis married to Claire (Jefferson), daughter Naomi and son Hezekiah; Barbara married to George (Jernigan), sons Brandon, Ian, Marcus, and Nathan; Michelle; and Melissa      married to Brett (Clark), son Brady and daughters Kodi and Corie, and 7 siblings: Stephen Jr., Marjorie, Jacqueline, Mark, Jason, Daren and Dionne. He was preceded in death by his wife, grandsons Nathan and Aaron, sister Gayle Susan, and brother John.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and retired from the United States Army. He taught special education and coached multiple sports at Rio Linda High School and Elk Grove High School. He retired in 2010 from the State of California as lead security guard at Cal Expo. During his retirement, he enjoyed “talking story”, playing cards, watching old western and war movies, fishing, taking care of and cheering on his grandchildren, vacationing, eating good food, and spending time with his OHANA. Spencer loved and cared for everyone, was the heart of his family, and a beloved member of the Elk Grove community for over 35 years. His ALOHA spirit will be deeply missed.

Friends and family are welcome for visitation, Military Flag Presentation, and Rosary on Thursday, July 25, from 5-8 pm at East Lawn Elk Grove Memorial Park & Mortuary, 9189 E. Stockton Blvd, Elk Grove, and a Funeral Mass at 11 am on Friday, July 26, at St.Joseph Parish, 9961 Elk Grove-Florin Rd. in Elk Grove.
