Dorothy R. Olvera “Grandma Blue”

Dorothy R. Olvera beloved wife of Henry passed away peacefully on Friday November 30, 2018 in Sacramento, CA. She was born April 19, 1927 in Arno, CA to the late Elvarine Rey & Frank Blue.  Dorothy was an active member of the Native American community (Eldest Member of the Ione band of Miwok Indians) and life-long resident of Elk Grove. Henry & Dorothy were married for 71 years and at the time of her passing she was 91 years old. Dorothy had a very blessed life that included many family and friends, she worked for 35 years at Blue Diamond Almond Growers. Dorothy was one of 11 children she was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and sister. She is survived by her daughter Doreen Franklin (Dave), and preceded in death by her two sons Allan Olvera and Sonny Olvera (Laura). Dorothy leaves behind 7-grandchildren: Tristana (Ray), Jerry, Matt, Lanissa (Kenny), Kayla, Crystal (Richard) and Sonny (Rosie). She is survived by 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.  

A Catholic Rosary and Vigil will be held at Herberger Elk Grove Funeral Chapel on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 6 p.m.  A Funeral Mass will be held on  Friday December 14, 2018 at 10 am St. Paul Catholic Church (8720 Florin Rd. Sacramento, CA 95828) Burial at Hicksville & Reception to follow (Wilton Rancheria Tribal Office).
