A man succumbed to his injuries after he was shot at a parking lot in the Laguna West area during the late evening of Sept. 4. The unknown gunman remains at large and the Elk Grove police currently lack a description of the suspect, as of press time.
Sacramento County coroners did not identify the deceased victim, as of press time.
Around 10:30 p.m., authorities were notified about a shooting that occurred at the 3400 block of Laguna Boulevard.
Elk Grove police spokesperson Hannah Gray reported that officers arrived at the scene and they were informed that a gunshot victim was taken to a local hospital where he later died. A second victim was also shot and was hospitalized for a non-life threatening wound, the police reported.
Gray stated that the investigation of what prompted the shooting is still ongoing. She did not disclose the parking lot’s location.
A shooting occurred at the same street block in 2013 when a gunman shot and wounded two people in the parking lot of the Pins N Strikes bowling alley. That business reopened as The Alley this May.
The Sept. 4 incident is Elk Grove’s fourth homicide this year. Authorities arrested suspects in the past three cases, including 36-year-old Ricky Sims who allegedly stabbed a woman to death at a home on Sierra Street last month.
