Elk Grove police on Nov. 28 arrested two suspects who allegedly burglarized three houses that displayed “for sale” signs in their front yards. Detectives reportedly found their car at a motel’s parking lot in Rancho Cordova.
Sacramento residents James McCastle, 54, and Latoya Buckner were arrested on burglary charges.
Elk Grove police spokesperson Jason Jimenez said that police believe the suspects targeted three Elk Grove houses in November. The houses were in the same area and witnesses reportedly saw a blue Chrysler PT Cruiser during the incidents.
Jimenez said that the suspects entered two houses that were occupied.
“(They) fled when they realized someone was home,” he said in a press statement.
The suspects allegedly stole small items such as wallets, laptops, and credit cards. They reportedly used the stolen cards to make purchases at fast food restaurants and gas stations in Sacramento.
Investigators recovered some of the stolen items after they took McCastle and Buckner into custody, Jimenez said. They were booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail.
The police stated that the investigation is ongoing and that if readers have information about the burglaries, they can contact detectives at (916) 478-8117.
