Triple-digit heat is forecasted to arrive in Elk Grove on Memorial Day, all of which makes the timing perfect for the reopening of local public pools for recreational swimming.
The Cosumnes Community Services District (CSD) staff announced they are reopening pools at the Elk Grove Aquatics Center and the Wackford Aquatic Complex on Saturday, May 29. They noted that Elk Grove Regional Park’s Fox Swim Center will stay closed this summer.
Recreational swimming will be available for two-hour sessions in the mornings and afternoons at the Elk Grove Aquatics Center and the Wackford Aquatic Complex. The operators are selling $6 tickets for each block in order to limit crowd capacity at the facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic. Admission is free for ages 4 and under.
The CSD staff advises the public to order tickets in advance by calling (916) 405-5600 or visiting https://apm.activecommunities.com/cosumnescsd. General admission tickets will be sold at the facilities on a first come, first serve basis.
Due to COVID safety protocols, lockers will not be available and swim equipment such as kickboards and pull buoys won’t be provided. Visitors are asked to wear face coverings if they are indoors and if they cannot stand more than six feet away from others.
The Elk Grove Aquatics Center is at 9701 Big Horn Blvd., next to the District56 center. Recreation swim hours are 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and 2-4 p.m. on weekdays; and 1-3 p.m. and 4-6 p.m. on weekends.
The Wackford Aquatic Complex is at 9014 Bruceville Road. That facility’s recreation swim hours are 12-2 p.m. and 2:30-4:30 p.m. on weekdays; 12-2 p.m. and 3-5 p.m. on weekends.
