An unknown man shot and wounded a person during a gunfire that broke out at a house party in Laguna during the late evening of May 31. Elk Grove police reported that a stray bullet struck the victim. The attacker remains at large.

This incident was reported around 11:30 p.m. at the 8900 block of Gables Mill Place.

Elk Grove police spokesperson Jason Jimenez said that the party’s host rented the house via a rental website. The shooting occurred in the front yard where the suspect approached a group of people.

Jimenez said that the suspect opened fire at them, which prompted someone in the group to return fire. Police reported that the victim was walking toward the party and got shot in a leg. A nearby house and a parked car were also struck in the gunfight.

Jimenez said that officers arrived to the scene and found that many already left the party. The victim was reportedly taken by friends to a local hospital.
