DUI suspect allegedly injures three pedestrians

Elk Grove police arrested a 22-year-old woman who allegedly struck and injured three pedestrians in Sheldon during the early morning of June 29. The victims were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

Maria Ruiz of Roseville was arrested on DUI and hit-and-run charges.

This incident was reported around 12:45 a.m. at the 10600 block of Wilton Road.

Elk Grove police spokesperson Jason Jimenez reported that Ruiz fled the scene after she hit the victims. California Highway Patrol officers later found her near the scene and determined she was intoxicated. Ruiz was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail.

Teen suspect arrested for cell phone robbery

Authorities arrested a 14-year-old boy who is accused of stealing a cell phone from an acquaintance on June 30.

This incident was reported around 7:20 p.m. at the 10000 block of Bruceville Road in the East Franklin area.

Elk Grove police spokesperson Jason Jimenez reported that the suspect confronted the victim and ordered him to surrender his cell phone. After the victim refused, he allegedly pushed him and stole the telephone.

Officers later contacted the suspect during a bicycle stop and reportedly found the stolen phone in his possession. He was booked into juvenile hall.
