The Elk Grove Fine Arts Center is hosting their first arts competition since they closed their center in March, due to the COVID-19 situation. Their show, “Culinary Art” will showcase artwork that depicts food and dining. Local artist and gallery member Kimberly Shaw created this show as a tribute to her brother John Baxter Shaw who worked as a chef and pursued the visual arts until his death in 1994. Artist, teacher, and decorative arts business owner Sheri Hoeger will judge the competition. “Culinary Art” will last from July 4-24 and will have its reception on Saturday, July 11 from 4-7 p.m. As per health and safety protocols, social distancing will be practiced and hand sanitizer will be offered. The Elk Grove Fine Arts Center is at 9683 Elk Grove-Florin Road. Visiting hours are from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., Wednesdays through Saturdays.  

Local artists are invited to have their work displayed at the Elk Grove Fine Arts Center in July and August as part of their Community Art Display program. There are no membership requirements, but a monthly display fee will be charges, and a 5% deduction will be made from sales. Submissions will be accepted on June 27-28. The Elk Grove Fine Arts Center reopened their gallery this month.  The arts center staff plans to conduct safety protocols such as wearing masks, performing temperature checks at the door, and practicing social distancing. Their Members Art Show will continue through June 26. The arts center will be open Wednesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at 9683 Elk Grove-Florin Road.
