2009 officers ready to lead Chamber

Published: Tuesday, January 6, 2009 5:00 PM PST
Richard Samra, principal of Richard Samra Enterprises, was elected to lead the Elk Grove Chamber of Commerce board of directors in 2009 as chair. Steve Griffin, Grubb & Ellis has been named chair-elect.

The new board has already met in retreat, and plans to “hit the deck running” as members concentrate on getting the word out on chamber services that can help businesses through these tough times.

Serving with Samra and Griffin will be Terry Haupt, Frontier Communications as vice chair, James Sweeney of Sweeney & Greene as treasurer, and Jack Williams of Smog N Go as immediate past chair.

New board members include Dr. Steven Ladd, Elk Grove Unified School District; Michael Megna, Backscratchers; Debra Fee, Raley’s/Bel Air; and Sandy Yuyama, Mechanics Bank.

Returning to the board will be Sheryl Carlson, Vista Point Insurance Services; Veronica Knudson, Methodist Hospital; Sharon O’Brien, O’Brien & Co.; Michelle Odell, Kaiser Permanente; and Todd Vermillion, River City Bank.

All will be installed at the chamber’s Volunteer Recognition and Installation banquet Saturday, Jan. 10 at Valley Hi Country Club, 9595 Franklin Blvd.

The evening begins with a social hour at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 and the program at 8. Cost is $60 per person, and reservations may be made by calling the chamber office at (916) 691-3760, fax 691-3810 or online at www.elkgroveca.com.
