Starting its plan to have monthly events, Old Town Elk Grove will be featuring August Nights “Walk of the Arts” on Saturday, Aug. 16 from 5 to 8 p.m.

The event will take place in Old Town Elk Grove on Elk Grove Boulevard, between School Street and Second Avenue.

“What we are going to have up and down the streets are a lot of vendors and throughout the night, we are going to have a schedule,” said Kristi Peck, committee member for the art walk. “We are going to have a lot of art exhibits, we are going to have art people doing their art, we are going to have musicians, we’re gonna have music, guitar players and single people singing.”

Many businesses from the area will be participating, providing free “Make & Take” items, with the theme “the art of” to provide a wide array of culture and art for the community.

Some examples of what local businesses will be offering include Camarillo Salon with “the art of” hair extensions and make-up, One to Another with “the art of” drawing Webkinz, Brick House Restaurant and Lounge with “the art of” sautéing, Embellish with “the art of” transitioning seasons and Cottage soap works with “the art of making soap.”

Many other participating businesses include The Secret Garden, LuLu’s Cupcakes, Yarn Shop, Uppercase Living, Into Interiors by Monica, Pomegranate Gifts for the Home and Body and Just Clay’n Around.

Some performers will be Laguna Creek High School student Shelby Duclos singing in front of Brick House, Joy Brewer will be singing and playing guitar in front of Just Clay’n Around and Mortaiko Drum Group will be performing in front of Boba Tea and Gifts.

There will also be a Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest.

“We are still looking for entries for that,” Peck said. “They are gonna be given a four-foot by four-foot square and they can have up to four people, and they can have any theme. And there are going to be prizes.”

Entries for the contest will be accepted up to Aug. 15.

Peck said that she is expecting a lot of vendors and participation at the event. There will be a schedule of every performance and demonstration available at the walk on the day of the event. A schedule and additional information will also be posted at www.oldtownelkgrove.org.
